Village Christmas Tree – Grand Light Switch on Ceremony 5 Dec at 4.30 pm
It has been an excessively long and difficult year for everyone. However, we hope that the arrival of our village Christmas tree in the centre of Main Street will deliver some much needed Christmas cheer to us all.
The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has helped to make our village Christmas tree a reality. It has been a real community effort to get it here. Particular thanks go to the Community Association for their kind donation towards the lights, David Moorey and sons for collecting and delivering the tree, John Fox and Mike Barfield for helping with the supply of batteries and to Steve Laux for project managing the installation and for bringing all the equipment and lighting together and for digging a very tidy and impressive hole in the cobbles.
In light of their sterling contributions to our community over many years we have asked Chris and Lynne Owens to switch on the Christmas lights at 4:30pm on Saturday 5th December. Chris and Lynne are sadly due to leave the village later in the month and the Parish Council felt that it was fitting that they should have the honour of switching on the lights this year.
Unfortunately, we are still not able to encourage a large public gathering as we would have liked to have done, and we would like to emphasise the importance of social distancing and complying with all relevant COVID-19 guidelines. A video of the occasion will be placed on Facebook for people to see, and we encourage people in Main Street to watch the grand ceremony from their doorsteps.
We hope that everyone likes the village’s Christmas tree. Happy Christmas!
