Councillor Vacancy – volunteers for co-option to the Council needed
As a result of the resignation of Jean Featherstone a vacancy exists for one councillor. The statutory period has now passed where an election could be requested to fill the vacancy; no such request was received by Hambleton District Council. The Parish Council will now seek to fill the vacancy by co-option.
Any person who wishes to be considered for co-option to the Brafferton & Helperby Parish Council is requested to contact, by letter or email, the Parish Council Clerk (see below) by the closing date of Wednesday 12 January 2022, for consideration at the council meeting on Wednesday 19 January 2022.
Please provide a brief summary (no more than 100 words) of your connection with the village, your interests, experience and, if appropriate, any particular features of the community that you may wish to champion.
Certain conditions must be satisfied for a person to be considered to be a Parish Councillor and may be found in the Local Government Act 1972; below are summarised the main features (further information may be obtained by contacting the Clerk):
- have reached 18 years of age.
- must not have incurred certain court convictions.
- be an elector of the parish; OR
- for the whole of the past 12 months have occupied (as owner or tenant) land or other premises in the parish; OR
- during that 12 month period have resided in the parish or within 3 miles of it; OR
- during that 12 month period have worked in the parish (as your principal or only place of work).
