UPDATE – CARRIAGEWAY RE- CONSTRUCTION – PARAPET REPAIRS – THORNTON BRIDGE
Following our original letter dated 9 August, we have been informed of a delay in the supply of materials for the parapet repairs. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a change of date for the Phase 2 works. Please see revised dates below in bold. There is no change to the Phase 1 dates.
Phase 1 – Carriageway Re-construction: The works will comprise of the raising and re-alignment of the carriageway adjacent to the bridge. New road markings and associated signage will also be installed. These works are programmed to start on the 21st August 2017 with completion expected on the 26th August 2017.
During the main elements of the work, road closures will be required for three nights between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs commencing on the 23rd August 2017 until the 26th August 2017. A fully signed diversion route will be in operation.
Phase 2 – Parapet Repairs: The works comprise of the repair and re-installation of parapet sections on the bridge.
These works are now programmed to start on the 4th September 2017 with completion expected by the 9th September 2017. During the works, road closures will be required nightly between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs from the 7th September 2017 until 9th September 2017. A fully signed diversion route will be in operation.
It is inevitable that these works will cause some disruption. Our contractors will assist you where possible during the working periods and on-site personnel will be tasked with managing vehicle access. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout. We request your assistance in the following ways:-
Please contact the Customer Resolution Centre on 01609 780780 to identify any special access needs you may have during the works period;
Co-operate and comply with any instructions issued by the traffic management operatives and take extra care whilst within the works area;
In order to ensure the works are completed as safely and quickly as possible it would be appreciated if residents could keep journeys to a minimum.
