A second message from your Parish Council
It is just a week since the Council sent out its first flyer outlining the help it could provide in managing the limits placed on us all by the coronavirus crisis. A lot has changed since then!
We have had a superb response from people volunteering to help with shopping and prescriptions etc. However, only a few requests for assistance have been received by the council – we believe that is largely because there has been such a splendid reaction from within our community with friends, family and neighbours helping out.
But, if you are in the Increased Risk group of those aged 70+, have an underlying health issue or are pregnant you should be following the Social Distancing rules stringently. This means maintaining a space of 2 metres (3 paces) with other people and, as far as you can:
- Stay at home
- Avoid contact with anyone with a high temperature and/or a new and continuous cough
- Avoid gatherings with friends and family
- Avoid public transport
- Avoid contact with friends and family
- Avoid large and small gatherings in public places
- Use the telephone to contact your GP and other essential services
Waiting in the queue for your prescription at Helperby surgery should be avoided!
If you need help with shopping and prescription collection and don’t have neighbours or friends to help then consider asking the Council to help.
If you do ask for collection & delivery of a prescription then I shall need your request by Tuesday for collection on Friday of that week.
Call Roger Clements (the Council’s Clerk) on 01423 360602
Be ready to provide this information:
- Your name
- Your address
- Your telephone number(s)
- Your email address if you have one

Additional Information overleaf
Would you like to be a Volunteer Helper?
If you would like to help those at Increased Risk with collection and delivery of their shopping and prescriptions etc and perhaps provide a link for advice or a friendly voice for a chat then call or preferably email the Clerk, Roger Clements, on 01423 360602 or braffertonhelperby.pc@gmail.com and provide:
- your name, address, email and phone (home & mobile ideally) and any relevant skill you may possess.
- Any restrictions on your availability (say, if you are at work, have other demands on your time etc)
- Whether you are at Increased Risk, if you are then you may be able to help by phone.
(Your privacy is important to the council and your data will only be used for the purpose outlined in this flyer).
We have to ensure that helpers are behaving in a way which ensures their safety as well as that of those they are helping. A guide has been produced from the advice provided by government – you probably won’t be much surprised by the content but adherence will be mandatory.
