Stephen Vaughan has become the latest member of the Parish Council. He replaces Cllr Deidre Brown who resigned several weeks ago. As the only applicant for the vacant position, Cllr Vaughan was co-opted on to the council unopposed and will serve until May 2027 when new elections will be held.
He moved to Brafferton nearly two years ago and quickly grew to love village life. He said: “What stood out to me straight away was the strong sense of community and how actively people get involved.Since moving here, I have become part of the village community association and enjoy contributing to local events and initiatives. Alongside this, I have a strong interest in politics and community life.
“I currently work part-time at the George Hotel in Easingwold while studying for my A Levels at home. As a Parish Councillor, I am keen to represent residents, support community initiatives, and help ensure Brafferton and Helperby continue to be great places to live.”
